Spanning 5.0 square miles of land, this suburban neighborhood emerged in 1952 as a planned community, featuring a mix of one-story homes—ranging from traditional red brick ranch-style houses to contemporary designs—alongside schools, parks, and the Belvedere Plaza shopping center. It’s bordered by East Lake to the west, Avondale Estates and Decatur to the north, and Candler-McAfee to the south, with major roads like Columbia Drive and Memorial Drive providing easy access to Atlanta. Originally farmland, including the B.L. Wade Dairy on Belvedere Lane, the area transformed in the 1950s into a suburban haven.
