This magnificent farmhouse – perhaps the oldest home on the south end of Grant Park and now operating as The Social Goat Bed & Breakfast – underwent a total deconstruction and renovation that took nearly three years after the owners purchased the home in 2005. Originally built in 1900 for a family that included 13 children, the main house has undergone major revitalization into a 5-bedroom, 5-bath mansion. The original trim remains throughout the house, which the homeowners carefully took off and put aside during the renovation process. When additional doors and windows were added several months later and more trim was needed, the homeowners had a master craftsman create new header boards, fluted door trim, rosettes and even plinths and head blocks that perfectly matched the existing woodwork. All of this work floats above new Brazilian cherry hardwoods on all three floors. One of the owners, who is an an antique restoration specialist by trade, has procured all of the vanities in the bathrooms through various venues, and has renovated each bathroom to emphasize the uniqueness of each piece. The owners also restored original pocket windows throughout and added five covered porches. Behind the main house, the owners have built a newer detached 3-car garage with a 1-bed/1-bath ADU above where much of the heart-pine flooring from the main house was repurposed. To the left of the main property is a separate parcel, 0 Robinson, which also conveys with the sale and contains another wholly separate 1-bed/1-bath ADU, livestock pen and shed, and a large "sunken" venue area perfect for a future pool.
